The 4th DERBYSHIRE CHESS CONGRESS

17th - 18th October 2026

Trent College, Derby Road, Long Eaton, Nottingham NG10 4AD

A 5-Round FIDE and ECF-rated Swiss tournament. All sections will be ECF-rated. In addition, the Open and Major sections will be FIDE-rated. October 2026 ratings will be used to determine eligibility, and in the Open and Major sections, FIDE ratings will take precedence over ECF ratings. All players participating in the FIDE-rated sections must have a FIDE ID number (FIN). If you are registered with the ECF but do not have a FIN, click on this link and fill in the form in order to obtain one.

There is plenty of FREE car parking onsite and there are good road links with the A52 and M1 nearby. Long Eaton railway station is under 2 miles away. For those requiring overnight accommodation, there are at least two hotels nearby. Please refer to the congress flyer below.

Refreshments consisting of snacks and hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the congress, although there are also numerous food establishments nearby.

Congress Flyer Information

The small picture at the top shows the elevated position of the venue as seen from the playing fields. The picture below is of the lovely spacious playing area which has good natural light and pleasant views of the playing fields by day, and which has superb lighting in the evening. It has been described by more than one player as "the best venue I've ever played in".
