5-Round Rapid Tournament – ECF rated – two sections, based on playing ability

Each section has a first prize of £50, second prize £30, third prize £20. Spot prizes on the day

ENTRY FEE AND ENTRY CRITERIA

  • £5 
  • under 18yrs old (on the day)
  • ECF Bronze membership is required. Information about the ECF membership (free for the first year) and how to join, can be found here https://www.englishchess.org.uk/ecf-membership-rates-and-joining-details/. If you think your child is likely to start playing in other tournaments, it is better to opt for Gold membership.

FORMAT

  • 5-round Swiss with all players competing in 1 section
  • All games ECF rated

Rules for ranking, in order:

  1. ECF rapid rating
  2. If no ECF rapid rating, then ECF standard rating

TIME CONTROL

  • 10 mins + 10 sec increment from move 1.

PRIZES

  • 1st place £50
  • 2nd place &30;TBC
  • 3rd place &20;TBC
  • + Spot prizes

Any ties will be resolved by the arbitor using event performance data. So no prizes will be shared. In addition no player will be able to win more than 1 prize.

Performance prizes for the highest W-We score, amongst players who haven’t won a place prize. Players without a rating are not eligible for a performance prize.

No player may win more than one money prize.

Finally there will be 4 small performance prizes awarded by HERCA during the tournament at the discretion of the tournament facilitators. .
