Junior discount £15 - all main sections. Junior is under 17 at the start of the tournament

Time Control

All moves in 90 minutes, with 30 second increments from move 1.

Grading

In determining which section to enter, players should use their start of season Chess Scotland grading, as published in the CS grading list, July 2018. Where a player does not have a CS grading, FIDE rating then national rating will be used.

For ECF rated players the conversion that will be applied is as per the CS Chief Grading Officers recommendation. ECF *10+180 = CS, so an ECF player rated 100 will convert to 1180 CS

Conditions of Entry

The organisers reserve the right to:

• Increase or decrease prize money
• Transfer entrants between events
• Split or merge events depending on numbers
• Withhold prizes from ungraded players if they play in events below their known strength
• The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry without assigning a reason
• Take any other measures deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of the congress

The Saturday Evening Fun FIDE Open Blitz

The Saturday Night Fun FIDE Open Blitz is open to all, juniors and adults. You don’t have to be participating in the weekend congress to take part. Entry Fee for all players is £5 payable at the event.

Start time – 7.30pm. Finish time – 9.30pm., approx.

It is 1 section over 7 rounds. We offer a variety of prizes for all levels and abilities.

You must have a FIDE Identification Number (FIN)* to play over the board chess, or be prepared to be registered with CS if you are eligible for a Scotland (SCO) code – eligibility rules here.
