Eligibility:
- Born in Nottinghamshire
- Currently living, or formerly resident for at least 3 years, in Nottinghamshire
- Working in Nottinghamshire
- Attending an educational establishment in Nottinghamshire
- Member of a chess club based in Nottinghamshire or affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Chess Association

ECF Standard play-rated event
Sections: Championship, Under-1850, Under-1600
Ratings will be based on the May 2025 ECF standard rating which will take precedence over rapidplay when players have both. The tournament organiser reserves the right to move players to higher sections based on the latest available grading information, for example if their ECF June rating (published at the start of the month) makes them ineligible for the entered section.
Rates of play: 65 minutes plus 10 seconds increment per move

Entries will be posted on the website following receipt of payment.
- Pairings will be made using Swiss Manager.
- The default time will be 20 minutes after the start of each round.
- One optional half-point bye available in Rounds 1-4.
- The decision of FIDE Arbiter Hambel Willow will be final on all matters relating to the tournament.
Prizes:
Each section: 1st £50, 2nd £25
Junior trophy: Awarded for the best performance rating (in any section) by a participant under the age of 18 on 1st January 2025.
Winners of all trophies – Championship, U1850, U1600, Junior – will hold these for 12 months or until the next championship is held, whichever is sooner.
In the event of a tie, prizes will be shared. No player may win more than one prize.

Entry fee £20 (juniors £15):
- Ideally, entries should be made online using PayPal via the Congress.org system.
- Alternatively, cheques (payable to ‘Nottinghamshire Chess Association’) can be posted to NCA, 18 Newton Close, Lowdham, Nottinghamshire NG14 7WF. Please notify Nick London by email of your intention to pay in this way to ensure we have a complete list of entrants and that no entries go astray.
- ECF Bronze membership required
- Closing date for entries Friday, 13th June
- The list of entrants for each section will be published on the Congress.org website.
- Sections may be merged if numbers are low.
Logistics:
- Maximum entry 60
- The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
- Free car parking is available on site.
- We hope to offer hot and cold drinks for sale on site; players are encouraged to bring their own food. Shops such as Costa Coffee and the Co-op are a 5-minute walk away in Radcliffe town centre.
